Scenic Rim Open Studio Artists

This years’ feature artist is Vanessa Laverty. Vanessa is currently studying photography at Qld College of Art and already has one major exhibition under her belt her work is large scale, atmospheric and experimental, for those of you who like something a bit out of the box, this will be for you.

Deb Oberhart who is a very active community artist/potter/sculptor plays with fire all during the weekend with Raku firing and demonstrations. A dramatic and very exciting type of pottery is produced – its unpredictability in its results is the ultimate part of its charm.

Joy Drescher will keep the crowd entertained with Bush Poetry during our wood fired pizza evening on Saturday night. Copies of Joys book will be available for sale. Being a woman of many talents we will also have a display of her jewellery as well. Hand made and individual pieces incorporating bone pewter, beads and resin.

Book a textile workshop in Botanical Dyeing with Wendi Trulson a talented Textile Artist. Wendi utilises recycled fabrics and natural dyes sourced from diverse natural sources. Contact Wendi direct for more information and bookings: 5533 3835.

Margaret Kirman, or AKA “Pixie” demonstrates Atelier and Chroma products will be offering some hands on entertainment for the kids on the Sunday.

Gerard Walker returns with his latest watercolour projects and we see the new direction of another local artist Melissa Latimer getting passionate about mosaics.
